SnapShot Plot

It’s about time I got around to discovering this unique, quirky and even eccentric series which comic legend Jerry Seinfeld has been doing for eight seasons on (free streaming entertainment site) Crackle. Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee is, as the name implies, nothing more (and nothing could be better) than Jerry calling up the best comedic names in the business (as well as other notables, such as President Obama for one) and picking them up in a cool vintage sports car, then going out for coffee and a bite to eat. Simple. Perfect. And always Hilarious.

Parting Shot

Season 9 is about to begin, with each new short-ish episode streaming on Thursdays. It’s a real achievement for Seinfeld, who created it and also serves as Executive Producer. Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee is obviously unscripted and off-the-cuff, which makes it a fabulous inside-Comedy glimpse as well as just a fascinating journey for vintage car enthusiasts too. In many ways, you can look to this show as the inspiration for The Late Show James Corden’s delightful Carpool Karaoke, albeit in a musical vein. Bottom line, though, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee (like Seinfeld itself) is, as Larry David has said, “a show about nothing.” When you recall that many of the best moments in life involve just hanging out with fun people and laughing about the silliest things, and add to that a double shot of caffeine, well that’s a hit!

Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee is available on Crackle.
